Phycoerythrin

Phycoerythrin (PE) is a pigment-protein derived from the lens of Rhodomonas cryptophyta and consists of two pairs of different polypeptides. PE is not only an important light-harvesting pigment protein in marine algae with photosensitivity but also a new and efficient photosensitizer. Data have proven that singlet oxygen and other oxygen free radicals can be produced after being excited by light of appropriate wavelength, killing biological macromolecules. In addition, PE can be easily combined with biotin, avidin, and various monoclonal antibodies to make fluorescent probes, which can be used in clinical diagnosis and bioengineering technologies such as immunoassays, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.

Advantages of Our Phycoerythrin

  • High absorbance and fluorescence quantum yield, strong and stable fluorescence, as well as high sensitivity.
  • Small fluorescence background, difficult to quench, and long fluorescence shelf life.
  • Easy to cross-link and combine with other molecules, with less non-specific adsorption.
  • Extracted from pure natural marine organisms, it has no toxicity or side effects and no radioactivity.
  • Easily select the appropriate excitation wavelength to produce efficient fluorescence emission with specific fluorescence emission peaks during excitation.

CD BioSciences, a marine biotechnology company, focuses on providing a wide range of phycoerythrin from seaweeds to customers in the food, cosmetic, and biopharmaceutical areas. If you are interested in our products, please contact us.
