Drug Screening

Overview

Compared with traditional drug screening methods based on cells or in vitro biochemical reactions, marine organism models not only contain comprehensive information on biochemistry, cells, physiology, and pathology but also reveal information such as the bioavailability and active metabolites of candidate drugs. With the continuous improvement of biomedical technology, especially the innovation of genome-based systems biology technology, the use of marine organism models for high-throughput drug screening has received great attention in recent years. For example, aquatic organisms such as zebrafish and sea urchins have played a huge role in drug screening for various diseases. CD BioSciences is committed to providing marine organism model development services and unique solutions for drug screening, thus facilitating drug discovery and development.

Main Application Areas

  • Anti-cancer Drug Screening
  • Zebrafish transplant models can be used for preclinical testing of cancer drug efficacy. By imaging fluorescent tumors in fish and high-resolution imaging of single-cell endpoints such as cell cycle or drug target pathways, we can monitor drug effects and further test their toxicity. Our experts have provided new opportunities for evaluating drugs for the treatment of human cancer in living animals by using zebrafish models.

  • Anti-infective Drug Screening
  • Secondary metabolites produced by marine microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi are important sources of antibiotics. By screening the metabolites of these marine microorganisms, compounds with antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal activities can be discovered. Our team has discovered a variety of candidate drugs with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by constructing multiple models and providing subsequent activity verification and mechanism studies.

  • Neurological Disease Drug Screening
  • Marine fish such as zebrafish are widely used in neurological disease drug screening due to their transparent embryos and similarities in nervous system development. Using this model, we can efficiently screen drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and quickly screen and verify the neuroprotective effects and toxicity of candidate drugs. We can provide a full range of services from screening to functional verification, and further accelerate the research on Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease by using zebrafish models for high-throughput drug screening.

  • Cardiovascular Disease Drug Screening
  • Some active molecules in marine organisms have significant effects on the cardiovascular system. The zebrafish model is widely used in drug screening for cardiovascular diseases. By observing and analyzing the cardiovascular system of zebrafish, we can screen drugs with potential therapeutic effects. In addition, our technology platform also supports the observation, screening, and functional verification of the effects of drugs on the cardiovascular system.

  • Anti-inflammatory Drug Screening
  • Polysaccharides, proteins, and other active molecules in marine organisms have shown great potential in anti-inflammatory research. Our platform has a rich marine sample library and advanced anti-inflammatory activity screening technology. By screening marine biological extracts, we can discover and develop natural compounds with anti-inflammatory activity.

What Can We Provide?

  • Model Construction
  • We use gene editing technology to build a series of marine organism models, including zebrafish models, sea urchin models, etc. These models are optimized to accurately simulate human diseases and provide a reliable platform for drug screening.

  • High-throughput Screening
  • Our platform is equipped with the most advanced high-throughput screening equipment, which can quickly and accurately perform large-scale drug screening. Using marine organism models, we can screen out candidate drugs with potential efficacy in a short time.

  • Activity Verification

The screened candidate drugs will further verify their activity on our marine organism models. We use a variety of biological and chemical methods to ensure the effectiveness and safety of candidate drugs.
