Overview

Pain is a normal protective mechanism of the body and a common symptom of many clinical diseases. Commonly used drugs, such as morphine and aspirin, have good curative effects on chronic pain, neuropathic pain, and inflammation, but their toxic and side effects have always been a bottleneck and have not been significantly improved. For example, morphine has a serious addiction, tolerance, respiratory distress, and a series of adverse reactions. Research shows that marine natural products (MNPs) have analgesic biological activity and have become one of the main sources of drug development. Classical MNPs and Analgesic Function

  • Conotoxins. Conotoxins are a class of peptide toxins extracted from marine Conus, which are highly selective and potent neurotoxicity. They can target neuronal ion channels and receptors, interfere with nerve signal transmission, and treat severe chronic pain.
  • Astaxanthin. It is a carotenoid extracted from microalgae and marine organisms that has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Research shows that astaxanthin can reduce pain and inflammatory reactions by inhibiting inflammatory factors and oxidative stress.
  • Polysaccharides. For example, fucoidan from brown algae and Carrageenan from red algae have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic potential. These polysaccharides can relieve pain by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and regulating immune responses.
  • Metabolites of marine microorganisms. Studies have demonstrated that a large number of marine actinomycetes and fungi produce different types of secondary metabolites with analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.

  • Drug Design, Synthesis, and Optimization

Our team uses molecular modeling software and computer-aided drug design (CADD) technology to design and optimize the structure of drug candidates. Through synthetic chemistry technology, we can synthesize and chemically modify drug prodrugs to improve the activity and pharmacokinetic properties of drugs.

The analgesic effect and safety of the candidate drugs are further verified through animal models and in vitro experiments. We provide high-resolution in vivo imaging systems and pharmacokinetic analysis to monitor drug distribution and metabolic kinetic processes in the body in real-time, providing reliable data support for further clinical applications.
